Safety Statement
1. Radley Engineering Ltd., completely accepts and undertakes to fulfil it's responsibilities under the Safety, Health and Welfare Act of 2005.
2. Radley Engineering Ltd., is at all times aware of it's managerial, moral and legal duty to protect it's employees, the employees of other companies and the general public from situations likely to create accidents.
3. Radley Engineering Ltd., assures it's full commitment to watchful management and supervision in order to create sites and workplaces where possibility of accidents is kept at minimum.
4. Radley Engineering Ltd., will at all time assure the Client that projects and contracts will proceed with maximum speed and efficiency while adhering to the guidelines of legality and safety as outlined.
5. To ensure the implementation of the above assurances, we will at all times take all precautions deemed necessary to secure the safety of it's employees, some of which are outlined below.
i) To provide clothing and equipment which will adequately protect personnel and which is appropriate to the work in hand.
ii) To appoint a competent safety officer on each site and provide First Aid facilities for his administration.
iii) Where necessary outside agencies may be consulted if expertise on specific safety matters is required.
iv) Notices, posters, reminders etc., shall be placed in positions selected by the safety officer, with the client's approval, to constantly keep the safety doctrine in the minds of personnel.
v) Supervisors and staff will fully co-operate with client where safety induction courses or lectures are prescribed.
vi) Only first class plant and equipment will be provided to site with special attention to Fire Prevention Equipment.
6. Radley Engineering Ltd., constantly confers and consults with it's employees on safety matters. The company appreciates and implements suggestions by the employees.
7. All new employees are required to read the Company Safety Manual, attend safety meetings and generally familiarise themselves with the safety codes.
8. The purpose of this statement is to show clearly to prospective consultants, clients etc., that Radley Engineering Ltd., are fully committed at all times to the safety of it's employees and all the personnel and property with which they are in touch.
9. Scaffolding - Where scaffolding is provided by Radley Engineering or a sub-contracting company, it shall be constructed, maintained and inspected in accordance with the construction regulation and in a safe manner. Scaffolding will be inspected weekly using SCAFF tag system. In this regard particular emphasis will be paid to stability, access, toe-boards, handrails and landings. Where potential danger exists to persons working and / or walking underneath scaffolding, such scaffolding shall have barriers erected approximately five meters around the scaffolding and / or Radley Engineering notices to the effect that danger exists from falling objects. All scaffolding shall be provided with access ladders.
10. Ladders - Where ladders are provided by the company or sub-contracting company, either for scaffolding or general access they shall be safe. Damaged ladders will not be used by our company's personnel. The following guidelines shall be used when working with ladders: -
i) All ladder usage will be risk assessed.
ii) They should project at least one metre above the point of access.
iii) Ladders should be securely tied off at top or footed at end of ladder.
iv) Where it is not possible to secure a ladder, a second person should be used to "foot" the ladder.
v) A general rule of thumb for ladders is, where used for access or as a working platform, it should be one foot mtr. for every four metres up.
11. Safety Harness - When Radley Engineering personnel are working at height where it is not possible to use scaffolding, then safety harnesses are supplied by our company, our company will ensure that same are safe.
12. Tools - All hand tools provided by our company for use shall be safe in so far as same is reasonably practicable and all electrical tools supplied by our company shall comply with the Factory Electricity Regulations and be safe.
13. Lifting Equipment - Where cranes, chains, slings, hooks, ropes and other gear used for lifting shall be provided by our company or sub-contracting company, our company shall ensure such equipment is safe in so far as same is reasonably practicable and complies with the relevant sections of the Construction Regulations. Our company will ensure this equipment is certified, tested and periodically examined in accordance with the Construction Regulations.
14. Housekeeping - Good housekeeping is required by our company personnel. All areas in which Radley Engineering personnel are working will be kept in a good state of tidiness at all times, and all tools, working materials and waste shall be secured and / or discarded by our workers at the end of each working day or as directed by client.
15. Accidents / First Aid - Radley Engineering personnel will report all accidents which result in injuries to our First Aid representative on site. Injuries will be treated on site and recorded.
